My name is Richard White, and this is my story...

(Mild Spoilers Alert!)

Damn you, Superman!

Ever since that rubber-wearing red-caper came back to Earth, life hasn't been great at all- Screw it, it's an understatement to even say that life's been just... out-of-this-world wretched.

As you all know, Lois Lane and I have been engaged for 5 years. For the whole of those 5 years, she's refused to marry me. What, could she still be holding a torch for that Kryp- I mean, creep? Well I know she's done Superman before- I mean, she's WROTE about him before, but that's old news, right? Oh for Krypton's sake! We already have a son!

It's not only Lois. Jason, our son, has been undergoing some... changes. Just that day when I was picking him up in school, he literally ripped the door off my new car. Yeah I know it's normal for kids to grow up and all - I used to hope my boy would grow up to be a strong man, just like his Daddy - but this is insane! We're talking doors hanging off their hinges all over the house.

What's my point? What's all these got to do with Superman? Well, I don't know. Honestly, I'm totally clueless. Yes, even after that 2.5 hour movie.

I just wanna tell the world that we don't need a superhero who screws around with our fiances.

Love a Sphinx

We spend our lives second-guessing each move, plotting straight lines for the future, and eventually lapsing into disillusionment with the curve balls life throws out. I'd wish to be clairvoyant, but I suspect it is man's fallibility that makes this world perfect.

There is beauty in the Sphinx that kills.

Death is Fear is Silence

We fear death. We hear no voices beyond the grave, and thus know naught. Haunted by mystery, we revere death in the same way ancient man did fire. Horrors become so much easier to grapple with once we are no longer subject to the magic of ignorance ; fire and lightning, enslaved by ingenuity. No such way out for Death who is mute. We know naught, and hence fear all.

The same for when no word passes between two. Silence is Fear is Death.

Amor est vitae essentia.

Love is the essence of life?

Peter: "But without Sophia I might as well die."

Valentina: "You didn't think that before?"

Peter: "No. I mean, no. Hardly. How could I? But I think it now."

Valentina: "Well, that's love for you, isn't it? Before you met her you were happy."

- from The Bay At Nice, David Hare

What is love? Does it heal or does it hurt? Does it vex or does it pacify? Maybe it does neither. Perhaps love is simply beyond our human range of perceptions ; Like how we wouldn't know if a fourth primary colour were to stare us in the eye, because our eyes can only detect three shades. We wouldn't even know how it looks. In that case, to place a label on love would be an act of futility. Does that mean love doesn't exist? Not if we can feel it.

I don't have issues. I've a damn subscription.
